Around the Baltic Sea to meet “Vätternrundan”

The year before I met Ernst, an Austrian, who told me about that famous 300km bicyclemarathon that is taking part in Sweden every year since 1966. He was exercising for the event.                                                                                                                                                                                           After I had pulled him in my lee about 50 k (with my fully loaded B.o.B.trailer, of course) and the following hearty breakfast I decided. ” should be possible for me, too”.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Lazy as I am, Idecided to combine the pleasant and practice. So I worked out the needed “legs”, travelling around the Baltic Sea via Poland, Lietuva,   Estonia and Helsinki, Finland. From Stockholm, I followed the Göta channel to reach Motala, the city where the event takes place. After a day ´s rest I finished the ride in one go, as expected.                                                                                                                                                       The following day, a little bit shaky, I started off to the city of Göteborg, rested again for a night on the Ferry to Kiel, from where it took me two more days to ride home.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Two days, because I had tried to keep up with a group of drinking scandinavians. No way.

My friends said” not that bad”
